 Owning a HaB designed and manufactured cabin or home allows people to use and live in an architecturally designed, cost-effective, and energy-neutral building. HaB was founded in the spirit of collaboration and love of design by Greg Baluta and Ralph Herzig. We are experienced world class designers passionate about wood and timber design and the art of sustainable living.

Passive House (Passivhaus) is considered to be the most rigorous voluntary energy-based standard in the design and construction industry today, and it also is at the foundation and inspiration to how we build better. It is how we feel better, use less energy, and care for our planet Earth.

At HaB we are dedicated to a sustainable approach building design and to that aim we apply the COMPASS, a method put together by EFFEKT Architects out of Copenhagen Denmark and VELUX Windows. COMPASS is "a simple, holistic framework for the planning, ideation and design of sustainable buildings."  We at HaB applied many if not all the principals laid out in the guide in the design and construction of our prototype and current featured project "Black Barn" and feel this approach best approximates and models our own design philosophy.
